  hello.

I was wondering if anyone has use pillow stuffing in their tank before rather than paying lots from a fish shop for a sheet. I've read a few people buy a pillow with 100% polyester or a bag of the stuffing as it's great for removing the fine particles and crystal clear water. I just don't want to buy the wrong one as I've read it's gotta be 100% polyester, not fire retardant and no additives. I've seen some toy stuffing bags has anyone used them or know if there ok?
Thanks maria

Does it say anywhere in small print about being fire retardant? Or even a warning because it isn't?

Sewandso do say "BS5852 and flare tested". If the stuffing passes both the BS and flare test, I would be wary of using it. And I would assume anything used for making children's toys with would be flame retardant (though I could be wrong)

Filter wool made for ponds comes in a roll and you buy it by the metre. It's cheaper than the kind made for aquarium filters.

You can get a 10 metre by 0.61 metre roll of pond filter wool for £12.95 including post from EBay. That would last for years and so I don't think it's worth messing about with other types and taking the risk.

Pond stuff is basically the same as aquarium stuff, it's just that their filters use a lot more so it's sold in bulk. And as with most things, smaller packs work out more expensive pro rata.
