Physa snails

Well, I'm back from my short holiday and since returning I have removed around 8 baby snails from the main tank and even foind one in the shrimp tank (there is also one nerite in both tanks)

In the 60cm tank the snail has laid eggs on the stones but there are no eggs in the shrimp tank.

I've looked them up on line and they do appear to be physa snails.
I'm hoiking them out and they go in a butt in the garden.
I can only assume they came in on the last lot of plants but I checked and checked and then checked again.
There were certainly no snails on them but I assume I must have missed some eggs. Damn!
Since nerite snails aren't supposed to breed in fresh water (??) I have to assume these are little rogues

I have some snails that came in with a recent plant. I've had those tiny ramshorns for years, but the physa or lymnaea snails (not sure which they are) are new. I have found jelly like things with white dots inside which are the eggs and I siphon them out when I find them, but there are loads that I miss. I also siphon the snails off the glass when I see them.
Nerite snail eggs are easy to see as they look like sesame seed stuck onto decor.

I collect snails from the shrimpery and feed them to my puffers. I love the expression on their faces when they find one, its a bit like this  :o

BTW talking of snails I was sitting at my next and noticed a movement out the corner of my eye and found one of my nerites trolling across the desk!! I have no idea how it got there!!!

Nerites are escape artists. My 50 litre tank was a replacement for a 60 litre that sprung a leak. I transferred everything over but of course the tank itself was new, and the sand got all mixed up with some bacteria covered grains ending up at the bottom. For several months afterwards I had to be very careful when I got up as it was common to find both nerites on the kitchen floor. After a while they stopped escaping. I can only think that they didn't like the newness of the tank.

I did a deep clean of the shrimp tank on Saturday and i cannot find the nerite snail anywhere.
Not even its shell.
I did start to think that maybe it being dead was the reason for the slight ammonia spike while I was away but in that case I would have found his shell wouldn't I.
I've looked at the back of the tank and the floor around son unless he went down the back of the cupboard I can't think where he is

Yes, there should be shell left if the snail had died. It may well have gone down behind the cupboard.

Well I can't get behind the cupboard or even see behind it so I fear my little Nerite has had it if he tried a walkabout.

I have a pencilfish down the back of my fridge freezer. It jumped while I was netting them from the QT a few years ago. There is no way I was going to move that on my own, it would have been dead long before I got it half moved.
