UGGhhh hot fish tanks again.

I'm absolutely melting and the tank temps have all gone up almost to dangerous levels. I've got all filters running on max aeration setting and 3 tanks have air pumps on max. The surface agitation seems to keep water temps at least tolerable for the fish.

How's everyone else coping?

Temperature this morning was 22oC may not seem high but it's a temperate tank normally 18-19. So left the lid open, unplugged the heater, closed the blinds and hopping everything is ok as not back home till tomorrow night.

Didn't want to try out the ice bottles as would be away but will when I get back.  Lucky the room they are in is the coolest in the house in summer.

Phew!  Glad I saw your post - hadn't thought about that happening!  I checked my tank & it's 30 deg    :(  So I've done a small WC (1 litre) & added cool dechlorinated water - hope the fish will be ok! Just wondering whether to do a normal PWC (6 - 7 litres) but didn't want to stress the fish even more.....    :-\

Thing is in a heat wave unless you can be there all the time, adding cool water isnt going to help..I don't think so anyway and I'm willing to stand corrected.

I  kind of took some measures yesterday, I've got tank lids lifted and lights on super minimum time unless they're LED but it's almost not enough :(.

and Anne I sympathise..I dont think my tropicals are happy with the 30 degrees I found when I came home today and that's with precautions I took before I went out  :(

Most fish will be fine for the length of a typical British heatwave.

See this thread for more info!
