Saulosi tank mates

Hi everyone. Got an established 125 litre at the moment with 5 pseudotropheus saulosi and just about to upgrade to about 300 litres. Does anyone know of any malawi cichlids that would make good tank mates for a little Variety.

Thanks.

Ps. Could all the '125 is way too small' please be a little forgiving as I only ever intended to get a bigger tank.

Thanks to the many that read my post. It seems the defence silence may be my answer, don't mix em. I'll check back periodically to see if anyone does have any experience in this.

Thanks again.   :)

To be honest, I don't think many of the members keep Malawi cichlids. I know most of the other moderators have soft water, and the one who has hard water doesn't have Rift Lake cichlids. So we know little about them. My knowledge is limited to the fact that they need very hard water, should be kept with other fish from the same lake, and are usually kept in what would be regarded as overcrowded compared to non-Rift Lake tanks.

I'm sorry we can't help with your question. It would be unfair of us to guess, and give you the wrong information.

Hi @hilly
I have hard water, but have yet to venture into the world of cichlids.
There is a group that is relatively local to me, and they specialise in these fish, so should be able to offer you some very useful advice. They are the East Anglia Cichlid Group, and although they don't have a website, they are on Facebook.
As Sue has mentioned, not many of us have experience with these fish, but I'm aware that the EACG have a lot of experienced members, including Steve Baker (staff writer at PFK), who was the one that made me aware of this group.
I'm sure that they would be more than happy to offer advice to another cichlid enthusiast, and I hope that you keep us updated on your tank upgrade & progress. I'd love to see some pics when it's all set up.  :)
