Got some corys  so thought i'd get some pellets, thing is, they don't sink to the bottom so the corys are missing out. is there a way to ensure they actually sink?

Hi Andy,

Are they semi-floating or sinking on the pot? I use King British catfish pellet food (pic of a corie on it) and 90% of the pellets I drop in sink straight to the bottom for my cories. My shrimp love them too so I have to wait for them to have taken one each before putting more in for the cories. I also use algea wafers broken in half and they also seem to enjoy frozen bloodworm too :)

It doesn't say either way, I just asked the guy in maidenhead aquatics for some at the same time as I bought the corys.   it just says Aqua care tropical pellets

One way to get pellets to sink is to soak them before putting them in the tank. Pellets are often light when dry, but get heavy and sink once they absorb water. I have a small tub (a cheesecake pot) which I use for this. Use a bit of tankwater, experience will tell you how long you need to soak them for.

I have pygmy cories and it takes them ages to realise there is anything on the bottom of the tank. I did worry the endlers were eating everything before the cories found any, but as they are still alive (and breeding) several months on they must be eating something.
You could try feeding them just before you go to bed. They are active at night as well as the day.

just put a few pellets in now, one of them is almost permanently hidden away and doesn't seem to want to "bumble" around with the others though. Is this a concern?

How long have you had them? It can take some fish quite a while to gain confidence with their new surroundings. Though it can also be a bad sign in some cases so make sure you keep an eye on that one just in case.
