Corys hunting?

I really have had a drastic pruning session in the 200l and what I've noticed is that the corys can quite often be seen ferreting around in the plants, sometimes very near the top. I know they go up for a gulp of air every now and then but until I did the gardening I don't recall seeing them in the plants this much before.

Are they foraging? If they are will my shrimp population shrink?

Glad you mentioned this. I haven't had my peppered cories in the temperate tanks for very long, but I have noticed them all around the tank and in the plants, as well as sifting through the sand at the bottom. I was beginning to wonder if I wasn't feeding them properly.

My pygmy cories (RIP -  :'() used to cover the entire tank, flitting from (silk) plant to plant, up near the top, down near the bottom and everything in between. Hope that's reassuring.

It is  :) The plants at the back were a bit of an impenetrable thicket. They must be enjoying the new space.

My peppered cories go all over the tank. I have often seen them start at the bottom of a plant and work there way up to the top and back down again foraging along each leaf in turn.  They also swim along the top of the tank now and again just for the fun of it.

I am not sure if they will eat your baby shrimp, if they are small enough and don't move out of the way it's a possibility.  The cories were probably all over the plants before yoy did your pruning but you just couldn't see them.
