Hi all

Started up a new tank and I've got some brown alge only seems to be on the plants for some reason, it does kind of rub off but just wondering if there is a way to get rid of it :-)

Thanks

If it rubs off it's diatoms. These are common in newly set up tanks, and the good news is that it usually goes away as the tank matures. If you want to remove it, just rub it off immediately before a water change so that you can siphon it up.

It will starve them of light. But as it comes off so easily, that's the best way to deal with it when it's on the plants - gently rub the leaves.

What are you currently doing with the tank? For example do you have fish, or adding ammonia, or something else?

At the moment I'm cycling the tank so no fish just yet was going to wait for the plants to start growing, some of the brown alge does not rub off so easy
