Hi all just noticed I've gained a very small tuxedo platy. Obviously I'd like to keep it. Is there anything I should be doing to ensure it's well being or just keep up with what I normally do and if it works out then great.

Separating it into a breeding net/trap would increase its chances because your other fish are likely to view it as fast food. You do normally get a fair few babies with Platys so i would've thought that there should be some more, although they may have already become lunch! It's possible that it would survive off its own accord though, especially if your tank has lots of places to hide.

Livebearer fry are big when they are born compared to egg laying fry when they hatch. Platy fry are fine on the same food as adults, just crush a bit up small.

so after having this free fish for about 6-7 weeks it grew quite quickly, all of a sudden it wasnt the smallest in the tank anymore, but has since disappeared!! no sign of it for a week now! not in any rocks or wood as i have moved them when cleaning and cannot see him floating or dead on the bottom! Strange! oh well easy come east go!
