Hi All

Hope your doing ok.I currently have a led light in my tanks, which is a white light. It's quite bright but find some fish hide more than others.

Just wondering what colour lights people use, or if you use the sunrise/sunset option on leds or something else.

You can use dimmers with some lights to make them less bright - but I'll leave it to someone who knows more about this to say if these dimmers can be used with all LEDS.

Another option is floating plants. My espe's rasboras huddled in the back corner before I had floating plants. After I got the plants, they came out more till the plants covered the surface and now they are everywhere.

Look for a nicrew ramp timer

It is generally best to use a ‘normal’ sunlight coloured light as this is what plants etc are designed to grow with . Even if your tank is not planted blue lights for example which are generally used as ‘moonlighting’ are known to encourage some algae’s. Extended dim lighting periods can also encourage algae which can more easily take advantage of
low light levels as they are a less complex organism

Unfortunately my lighting unit goes straight to a plug, so the Nicrew wouldnt work. I keep seeing what are called Tropical bulbs which supposedly enhance the fish. Is that true?

@Matt Have checked my original light fitting and the LED one i am using now but both go straight from fitting to plug so the Nicrew wont work.

Will have to delve deeper on things.
