LED TIMER

Hi;I recently purchased a Nicrew digital  timer which as  recommended on here.I have a Marina Vue tank with blue/white LEDs.It has a touch switch in the hood which I’ve found to be a nightmare.So l thought l would bypass it with the timer.Its supposed to mimic sunrise/sunset by slowly dimming the lights.I can to turn off but can’t seem to get it come on.Ive tried different configurations with the hood switch but no coming on.
any ideas ?
