Green stuff growing on my bogwood and rocks

With reference to the attached photo, this green algae (presumably) has started growing in my tank over the last 6 weeks or so.  Growing on the bogwood and rocks, but not on the glass.  My plecos won't touch it, and it seemed to start growing when I put them in the tank.  That may be a coincidence.

Can anyone tell me what it is, where it came from, and how to get rid of it?  Never seen anything like it before...

Hard to identify it from the photo unfortunately so hard to give you specific advice... have you been doing water testing over the period, it might be associated with a spike in something post the addition of new fish and your filter catching up.  Also what is your maintenance regime on the tank?

Fortunatel6 I do know of a very good guide to algae. Though I will caveat that it is mainly aimed at high energy planted aquascapes so some of the advice it gives may not apply here. If you can use the link to identify the algae type I'd be happy to help identify the best course of action for you.

Thanks, Matt.  That has given me an idea.  I never used to use plant fertiliser, but decided to start to improve my plant longevity so I bought some when I bought the plecos.  Having read your link, I wonder if that's part of the issue.  I'll try a few things - regular small water changes for a week or so, not adding fertiliser for a spell.  My plants are doing really well, but maybe there's a happy medium.
