Yes, I have mine set up to notify me of any new posts too, and like you have found it's not happening anymore.  I have to physically go to the forum, and check through the listings.  I had thought it was just my computer being cranky....but  maybe not.

Hmm that is odd, I always use show unread posts to make my way through what's been going on! It's a lot easier when I'm on my phone too like this weekend. Im currently stressing about my tank since it's the first time it's ever been completely left alone. It's only been 2 days but paranoia is getting the better of me!

2 weeks, I don't think I'd cope! I got back today after leaving Saturday and the first thing I did was check the tank and in my panic declared onr of my fish dead and two gonners, since he was 'dead' in a cave under the driftwood and the other two were sat on the gravel looking pale. I turned the tanks on to further assess the situation and what do you know they came back from the dead.. or they were just sleeping I've never seen them like that before so it really did scare me at first! Unfortunately I have returned to a tank with an increasing snail population.. perhaps more drastic action is needed

Some species of fish are worse than others for changing in the dark. Neons (and green neons & cardinals) go brown in the dark. Dwarf pencilfish lose their stripes. Most of them go into a stupor, some come out of it faster than others.
And dark doesn't necessarily mean total blackout, just a bit dim.
