Forum name change on emails

Has anyone else noticed the name of the forum has changed on emails?

I have my settings to notify me every time anyone posts in a thread I've already posted in, and every time a new thread is started. I have just noticed that the emails from Think Fish have changed.
Going through my deleted items email box, the emails were from "Think Fish Forum" up to the one I received at 13.22 today. The three I have received since then have been from "Tropical Fish Forum".

I am a member of another forum, and emails from them come labelled as "Tropical Fish Forums". The only difference between that and the new Think Fish label is the 's' at the end of the other one.

I am going to get very confused!!!!

Hi Sue

Sorry about the confusion caused - I've sent you a pm on this, working on a fix. Please watch this space!

Hi Robert,

I'm easily confused  ;D I wondered at first if it was something to do with my computer - I know how to use them but not how they work.
There are so many tropical fish forums out there now and only a limited number of variations on the words!

Hi Sue - Very true!

I figured it would be great if as many people found this resource as possible so it made sense to try and improve the relevancy of the forum for the terms Tropical Fish Forum - The downside is that the change meant that all of the other features that relied on that name changed too! Not so good for folks like yourself getting confusing changes to their email subject lines!  :)

I too, had my computer set to let me know when there were any new posts, but it had stopped doing that. I only knew when there was something new to read by physically going to the forum and selecting the 'unread posts since last visit' option. I had thought it was my computer but could this be because of the name change issue?
Being, like Sue, easily confused, I don't know which is the most likely???
We have loads of trouble with our internet anyway, and my broadband has been down more than about 70% of the time for the last couple of months....extremely annoying! We have now changed our internet provider and a line fault has been found and hopefully fixed, so I am cautiously optimistic about being able to chat on the forum a little more regularly again...I can hear you all groaning from here ;D

There are two things to do to get different types of notification.

For threads where you have posted, to get emails about new posts in that thread, you have to set your profile in the notifications section. I have it set to notify me instantly.
For new threads just started, you have to set every section, one by one, by clicking the notify button at the top or bottom of each section. It's a bit time consuming doing them one at a time, but that way you do get an email for every newly started thread.

The only thing I haven't discovered a way of getting emails is when there is a thread I haven't posted in but someone else has replied. I have to come to the forum and use 'show unread posts since last visit'.

I don't know how you put up with your internet provider so long. Between me and my fish forums and family history and my husband continually searching for music he doesn't have yet, we'd be driven mad by no internet connection  ;D

Am I just going on the forum when no-one else is about, or does it no longer tell you what other guests/users have been online in the past 15 minutes? Whenever I have been on lately I am showing as the only user. There used to always be a great long list of others no matter what time it was ???

Yes Sue, we have been ready to throttle our internet provider...hence the change to someone else....time will tell...

Hi Resa!

No, it still does, but many of those you may have seen prior were spambots! I've since removed  those, hence the lower but more accurarte numbers :)

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your reply...I wondered if I was going mad! Good work for getting rid of all those spammers....we shan't miss those :)
The only trouble is now, when I go on the forum at some unearthly hour it will feel really lonely...I used to think that at least I wasn't the only person still up ;)

Ha! There's always an average of 50 'guests' online and some of them are forum users who aren't logged in or login in 'stealth' mode! :D

In your account settings there's a checkbox that says "Show others my online status" uncheck that and you'll be invisible! :o

I've been looking for that box since Resa asked and couldn't find it. I still can't  ???

I've gone to profile, selected Account Settings and still can't find it.
On the page Tropical Fish Forum => Profile of Sue=> Account Settings I can see user name and name; email and allow users to email me; choose password; secret question; current password. Is this the right page?

Not that it matters, I stay logged in all the time and it doesn't matter to me if people can see when I'm here. Just idle curiosity  ;D

Not just me then? :-[ I couldn't find that box either.
Same thing as Sue...not really important, I don't mind who sees when I'm on online, just curious. I'm not really sure why anyone would want to remain 'invisible'...or am I missing something?
This stealth thing...is that the same as 'lurking'? I've heard of that, and in fact a couple of people in the past have 'fessed up to doing that...horrible expression, it sounds a bit seedy somehow.

One other thing, have I completely lost the plot or do we have a new Administrator? Wasn't he called Peter? I've probably missed some announcement somewhere about the change....sorry if I have and you're repeating yourself :-[

Odd, thanks - I'll look into it :)

Just an fyi - You now have two administrators, and  I've taken over many of the responsibilities that Peter used to look after. Nothing will change with regard to how things work currently, if anything I hope to upgrade things over time and add new features that will enhance the existing set up. Bear with me though, it'll take time!

Look out for things like - faster response times on page loads (server upgrades) , a store where you can buy items for your tanks, more articles, guest blogs from fish specialists, news pieces and more.

If you'd like to write any pieces yourselves then pm me with details :)

Ok, it seems that for now, the stealth login option isn't available to non admins.  :-\

I'm running a software upgrade on Monday, so will look to see if there's a way of changing things so that all have the option. 8)

How lucky are we? TWO administrators!
Exciting times ahead...I was worried that the site was going to disappear :( It's such a nice, welcoming and friendly place to go for all your fish advice....thank Heavens for Sue ;) and when more technical or equipment advice is needed, then Steve can usually be relied upon to step in.

I'm really looking forward to all the new stuff coming along....thanks and good luck with your plans to both you and Peter.

Thanks Resa!

I don't know everyone here but I'm glad that you see the value in what the people who contribute provide! The Thinkfish forums are a fabulous resource and it's good people like yourself and Sue and Steve who make it the great place that it is to learn and share! :)
