Thank you all.

Steve, thank you for all your advice, really appreciate it.  Yes, I was pleased with the advice I have been getting from my fish shop, they all seem "knowledgeable" and are very enthusiastic. Of course, as a complete novice, I assumed they knew what they were talking about!

Going to mull this over.  :-\

It would be nice if it were so. Unfortunately, if you read many posts on this and other forums, you will see that it is rarely the case. It is incumbent upon us to research our own solutions beforehand.

A common problem unfortunately - they're all businesses out for turnover and profit at the end of the day  >:(

I have 4 retailers nearby which sell fish and accessories and whilst I generally use them all for one thing or another, I would only really trust the advice from one of them.
