Title: Hello! Another new one!
Post by: aespp on July 15, 2014, 11:41:50 AM
I'm Amy! I'm new to this forum but not new to the world of fish! Me and my partner have a Jewel 125, which we've had for almost 3 years now - the fish are getting lovely and big!

I have just purchased my own tank for our bedroom - a Marina S60 (60ltr) which I've only just set up. As my partner is away on a fishing trip, I don't have his knowledge to help me with this new tank so be prepared for a few questions!

Take care!

Hello, and welcome.

That is perfect thinking! Or maybe even a pond! I need to do some persuading!

Thank you :)

Hi Amy, nice to have you! What about a pond then when it gets to winter get a big tank and have them inside  8)

The fact you won't need to put them inside can be a conversation for later  :))

We 'inherited' a pond and 4 shubunkin when we moved here. It's a 1100litre pre-formed sort and I must say it's been a lot of fun and gives us a lot of pleasure. Paul and Ringo (John and George went the way of their namesakes two winters ago) have had babies and we've got about 20 2" shubunkins of various hues swimming around. Damselflies and Dragonflies visit, and we've got a frog hopping in and out, and Boris and Doris the Mallards often go for a swim. Violet the cat is very interested in it all!

It all sounds very lovely. I must definitely persuade a pond investment! Although the other half may want to sneak a red tail catfish in...

I love the idea of a fish tank in your bedroom!

My new tank is in my room as there's too much noise and movement downstairs for it to go there, I'm with Chris though it has a real calming effect for me too!

I would love a tank in my room, too. But don't think my other half would go for it. :(

Just get a massive tank, stick it in, fill it with water, then it will be too heavy to move, so it will just have to stay there!  ;)
