I was a wee bit suprised to find that the crazy tetra has got a little patch of fungal infection on his side. Suprised because after his 2nd game of sardines in my filter I noticed he'd a little patch of damaged scales, so I added a double dose of Stress Coat as recommended on the bottle and assumed that with the fungal treatment already in situ he'd be fine and he quite obviously is not.
Is there anything else I can do or is a just a matter of waiting it out?

Are you sure it is fungal? The reason I ask is that some bacterial infections look like fungus and are indeed called fungus but need an anti bacterial med. Is there a white patch that has long stringy bits hanging off it? If not it is more likely to be bacterial.
And secondly, what is the fungal treatment you are using?

Hmmm I've just sat and had as good a look as I can (I soo need new glasses) and what he has is a white flat patch, I'll get my son to double check when he gets in from work. I suppose its possible that because I spotted it so soon (day after the filter squeeze) if it is a fungal infection it hasn't been there long enough to get 'stringy' on the other hand I assumed the Interpet Anti Fungus and Fin Rot would prevent a fungal infection starting. I'm treating for an extra week to make sure the white spot and fin rot doesn't come back.
I wonder if it's anything to do with the white jelly stuff that is growing everywhere in the tank atm, somebody here did say it was a bacterial growth that's common in new tanks. Would that cause a bacterial infection in a fish?
What would you recommend I use Sue if it is bacterial?

For infections that are definitely bacterial, my two favourite meds are eSHa 2000 (treats fungus, finrot and bacteria) and Myxazin by Waterlife (finrot, body rot and other bacterial infections). The only problems with them is that a lot of shops don't stock them. I've found that small local shops are the best bet rather than the big chains.

I've found Myxazin and Myxazin P on amazon so I'll be able to get it from there if I can't find it in the shops. I'm heading there now to get some live food for my glass fish :)
