Title: Cory with sore?
Post by: Wild Rover on November 30, 2014, 03:52:13 PM
Hi

One of my sterbai corys has what appears to be a large sore on top of its head. It seems well otherwise and is eating and behaving normally. None of the other fish are affected. It's not red or fluffy, more like a dull bare patch. Any ideas?

Thanks

Do you have any ornaments with holes in, or stones or bogwood where it could have got stuck underneath and scraped its head trying to get out? Cories are notorious for trying to get through holes that are too small.

Yes Richard, I have a large artificial rock that has a crevice they like to get into that I always think looks a little tight. Will it heal itself if that is the cause?

I should think so. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't look infected or gets fungus, also be very careful to keep your water and substrate particularly clean.
