Columnar is outbreak and strange advise from Lfs

Hi, first time I have posted, so hello, I wouldn't say I was a newbie at fish keeping but not an expert either, I believe I have an outbreak of columnaris which I am treating with Furan 2, on the 2nd dose tonight. I mentioned it when I popped into my local Lfs as he asked me how my tanks were, I have 3 (hubby not totally impressed) 😄 but he said when I did the 25% water change not to put the water conditioner in as it would help clear the bacteria. Not sure if he's trying to kill all the fish off so I have to restock with him or what but I didn't think this was a good idea, anyone any thought on this?

A Selection of Fish in my Fish Community Creator Tanks
Angelfish (4) - Keyhole Cichlid (1) - Denison's Barb (5) - Clown Loach (3) - Siamese Flying Fox (3) - Ornamental Snails (1) - Japonica Shrimp (10) - Neon Tetra (12) - Otocinclus (3) - Galaxy Rasbora (5) - Siamese Fighting Fish (male) (1) -
Note: The user may not necessarily own these fish, these are tanks that they may be building or researching for stocking purposes

Some people do add undechlorinated water to treat infections. But they wait a few minutes then add dechlorinator and only then switch the filter back on.

As you have access to antibiotics, I would stick with them, though you could also try untreated water if you wish. As long as you add dechlorinator before switching the filter back on, you should be OK.

The idea is that chlorine/chloramine is an antibacterial. That's why the water company puts it in the water, to kill bacteria. I'm not sure I like the idea of subjecting a sick to an irritant though.
The filter bacteria would be OK, unless the tank was very new, as they are embedded in the biofilm which gives protection for the few minutes of exposure. New tanks haven't finished growing the biofilm which I why I definitely wouldn't use this treatment in a new tank.
