Title: Bloated guppy
Post by: fishcake76 on December 31, 2016, 08:59:37 PM
Hi Everyone!

Think I probably last posted over a year ago!!!

I have two male guppies (started with twelve!) one of them is incredibly bloated. He is hanging around at the top of the tank and has increased respiratory rate. Can't see any evidence of pine coming on scales. Is still eating. Any suggestions??

Since it is male, it is obviously not carrying fry.

Could it have swallowed something like a bit of gravel?
Or stuffed itself with food - how long has it been like this?

You could try not feeding the tank for a day then giving daphnia (live or frozen) then nothing the following day. Daphnia is good for constipation, as is fasting a couple of days.

Guppies are not the hardiest of fish these days I'm afraid.
