Title: Can I have just male Black phantom tetras
Post by: KayFe on May 06, 2017, 11:49:23 PM
I want to add black phantom tetras to my tank. I had some of these a long time ago and think the males are more attractive. Is it okay to have six males and no females? I know males fight when there are females around so assume I'd get no fighting.

I think males would still fight to establish their place in the pecking order, but once that is sorted there would still be skirmishes as a lower down member tries to move up the ranking.

But most people do recommend having 8 to 10 fish of both sexes. You see more natural behaviour and males are usually better coloured with females in the tank.
