I have used Aqua Medic Titanium Heaters for several years and found them to be extremely robust.
They are relatively expensive (approx £34 for a 300W unit).
The heater requires a separate thermostatic controller in order to function. I use D-D dual temperature controllers (heating / cooling).
The heaters tend to be more efficient than their glass counterparts. I employ a 200W heater in my 270 litre aquarium and it has no trouble maintaining a temperature of 26 C required for my Tanganikyan Cichlids.
The obvious downside is the initial cost of the unit plus the added cost of the thermostatic controller.
I am currently running 3 of these heaters and have had no problems with them over a period of about 4 years and would thoroughly recommend their use.
Picture attached.

I also believe that the manufacturer of heaters makes a significant difference to their reliability. I have had a reasonably cheap pizza from a reputable and well-known brand which despite having condensation inside the tube has performed admirably for me for 5 or 6 years with about 12 months break in the middle.

I have also had a series of the same type of heater from a less well-known manufacturer but I have approximately the same price bracket fail after a very short operating window

Prior to using the Aqua Medic heaters I had the Fluval E series heater/ thermostats. Never had any problems with these units either. I still have one as a spare. The only thing I will say is that the Fluval E series require adequate flow around them due the heater unit being encased in a plastic housing. They generate a low flow warning but still function correctly.

I have been using the Aqua range of heaters from MA in my tanks because they have covers. This is quite important for me in my mudskipper tank as that has relatively shallow water, the heaters run horizontally along the bottom of the tank, and the fish sit on any flat surface - including the heaters.
Also handy in my tanks with plecs as it is not uncommon to see them trying to graze on the heater cover, or be grazing on the glass behind the heater.

Tell me about it! Even several years down the line after trying to start dictating, I still find that I have to spend far more time trying to fix all the errors and other editing. The more frustrated I get with it, the more my voice alters, and it seems to make even more errors.
