Eheim 350 skimmer review

Just a quick review on this Eheim surface skimmer.

I thought these were for mainly for marine and larger tanks.I have a heavily planted smallish tank. I've sometimes noticed there's quite a build up of surface film. So I thought I'd try one.

It's really quite a small unit about 5 inches in height. Also when its running its completely silent. It has a small sponge filter inside, also the pump is adjustable.

Having a smallish tank I thought it could be too powerful but pointed  towards my filter it's fine. I've read previous reviews saying very small fish could get sucked in it.

The way I use it won't affect me. After feeding, I run it for about ten minutes and the surface is crystal clear, that's all it needs. At first I thought it could be an unnecessary addition to my set up. I wouldn't be without one now (if you prefer crystal clear water).
Overall very impressed for the money(£22ish) :isay:

Nice one @Moby Surface skimmers are good at removing films of oil or proteins and improving gas diffusion at the surface. I used a jet of return water directed down at the water surface before I got an external filter with one attached but a proper skimmer is much better, providing you don't have floating plants - then they drive you wild :)
