Hi,
Hello from a newbie from Dorset. I'm currently in the process of changing from a Tetra Art 60l tank to a Fluval edge 123l. I am just about at the end of a fishless cycle for the new tank (thanks fo all the articles Sue) and will soon begin to transfer my Neon Tetras, Harlequin Hasboras, Blue Barbs and Blackskirt tetras to the new tank.
I've had the 60l tank for about 5 years and was new to it all when my wife gave to me. I've made a few mistakes along the way and joined this forum in the hope that I can make better choices!

Welcome @MikeM !!
Most of us have been in your shoes. 60 ish litre tank and no experience and a lot learned in a short space of time...
We all love photos, could you share one of your new tank? Do you plant to add any additional stocking and/or live plants?

Hi MikeM
I'm very envious of your tank upgrade as my tank size is similar to the one you've had for 5 years - great news that you're getting a larger one. (Just googled it - is it Fluval Flex 123L, rather than Fluval Edge? If so, very good.)
Looking forward to seeing a photo of the new tank, once everyone has been transferred across into it. :D

Hi @MikeM and welcome to the forum
Oh yes, @Matt is correct, we've all been in your position.
Best of luck with cycling your larger tank & transferring your fish. I hope we get to see some pics when you're done. :)

Yes, sorry it's a fluval flex 123l not an edge. When I get it sorted I'll put some pictures up.

Hi @MikeM,
A warm welcome from me. My community tank is 125 litres so we can compare notes as time progresses. Take a wander around the many useful threads here at Think Fish. Then ask as many questions as you like. We'll do our best to answer them.
Good to have you here.

Hi from Cumbria. I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but if you’re closing down the small tank you could just transfer the filter media over to the new one. You don’t need to cycle it in that case, as the media are already cycled.

Thanks for the advice. By the time I realised I could do that I was already well into the cycle. I'm there now. Fish transferred and so far so good. Cheers
