Hi All

I'm Dave form Dumfries. Just getting back into the hobby after 30+ years. Got a Juwel Rio 125 litre tank currently in fishless cycling mode.

Hi Matt

Having cycling problems, posted in other forum. Have black sand as substrate with artificial and silk plants and ornaments. Stocking wise I am looking at Neon Tetras, Panda Cory's, Marble Hatchet fish and something like Harlequins and a Bolivian ram.

Welcome

Good choice of fish which will enjoy the soft water in Scotland. I visited Heathhall Garden Centre a year or two ago - they had a good selection of fish.

I've been talking to Dave on another forum, and he has me at a loss to explain his cycling results  :-[

This is going to ruin my reputation on here  ;D

There is one other thing that hasn't been mentioned yet on either forum.

Do you know anyone else who has a fish tank? Already mature media can be used to kick start a cycle. The problem with posting some to you is the very cold overnight temperature at the moment and I'm not sure if the bacteria would survive the post.

No, I don't know anyone as only moved here a few months ago. Will try Seachem Flourish when it arrives tomorrow, put a little fish food in tank as well. Did test ammonia today but no drop but probably down to fish food.
