A 500L tank, fantastic.  ;D
Looking forward to hearing all of your plans for your new tank.

I have hard water in this area, so I don't know much about soft water species, but there are a lot of people here with a lot more experience in fishkeeping, and have soft water.
If you have a look at the fish profiles, and use the community creator, that should also help to see what will work together.  :)

Hi Shelly

I'm just across the border from you in Yarm  :) And you are not far from Chilton Aquatics - do you use that shop?

I am so jealous of your new tank, I only have a 180 litre  ;D

Welcome, Shelly!

Wow - a 500-litre tank...

You might find this profile helpful for angelfish http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/fish/angelfish.html and http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/pterophyllum-scalare/(looks like a group of them would be a good plan), then work out after that what might be compatible with them temperament-wise, size-wish, temperature-wise, etc. Looking forward to an update of your proposed/developed plans.

Shame about the stand. Do you know when it's going to be ready?

Looking like new year. Had to b stripped down and RE sized.
The Mr's didn't measure our front door. Door 28" wide, stand was made 32" wide. Bloody women lol. Wish she had told me about it instead of it being a sunrise. Pleased I an the patient sort.

I hope that it arrives early in the new year for you to set up your tank.  :)

I was lucky with my delivery that I had been very cautious with my measuring and actually now have a few cms "spare" room around the tanks. Funnily enough I hadn't thought to measure the doorways though  :-[

Am I just lucky that my stand is only a couple of cm wider than my tank so 45 + 2 = 47 cm which is narrower than any door in the house except the airing cupboard.

But about 20 years ago our teenaged son was learning to play the organ. Not an electric keyboard but the instrument with several manuals, a pedal board and lots of big pipes - a church organ. Then we heard that a local Methodist church was selling their rather elderly electric organ for a couple of hundred £. OK, so not a full organ but it was made of solid oak with two manuals and a pedal board, and a rather large separate loudspeaker, which we declined.
We had to take the front door off its hinges to get it in the house. Then we couldn't get it back on so one of son's friends who had come to help phoned his father who worked in the trade and he made it look so easy.

So I can sympathise with those of you with big tank cabinets  ;D
