Just want to say hi
my names Kim i live in Redcar just a short walk from the beach
I was brought up with dogs, cat's and of course fish :fishy1:
I remember being small and my dad taking me to our local fish shop which is still there the tropical house in Redcar and was in awe of so many beautiful fish swimming around.
We had indoor tanks and a massive pond with enormous carp in which we hand fed
Anyways all these year's later I'm still mad about fish and have passed it on to my daughter who has recently moved out and yes you guessed she also has a 3ft tank
Well that's enough for now (I do waffle on :D)
Thank you all for having me

Hi Kim, and welcome to the forum.

It sounds as if the passion for fish has been passed on to each generation. That's fantastic.  :)

It certainly has,  the house my daughter bought was my mam and dad's house
my dad died 5 year's ago,  I got his tank of fish and the pond was filled in with gravel put over the top,  my mum never had the passion lol
Her and her partner are digging it back up to put the pond back in which is lovely
I just hope her children don't do what she did when she was little and that was to throw in their 2 pet rabbits,
When asked why she'd done it she said
buuttt grandad it's hot and they wanted to swim with the fishes lol

Hi Kim

I'm in Yarm.

How is Tropical House these days? Last time I was there the old chap had given over the running of the shop to his daughter (he just went in to help out) - has she made any changes?

What do you have in your tank? We tend to nag people for photos as well  ;D

Hi sue
Yes she did take over, not sure how long it is since you've been but all the reptiles have gone now, I was in a few week's ago buying a couple of bristle nose plecs
It's still as hot dark and dank as it was  from when i was a kid......but the fish are super hardy from there :)

Hi Kim,

A big 'hello' from me! I'm originally from West Yorkshire. I have only once visited Redcar and that was 55 years ago! As a kid, my family and I would often take a holiday in Scarborough. On one occasion, we ventured further up the coast to Saltburn and Redcar. Then onto Middlesbrough.

I now live in Bracknell, Berkshire.

Great tanks.

It's very easy to get distracted by a tank, especially one with a bristlenose.  ;D

Wow jaypeecee 55 year's ago lol  :) Redcar has changed so much it underwent a major face lift about 15 year's ago and looked lovely.
unfortunately like so many high street's it now looks awful empty shops and tired looking.
charity shops and phone shops are the norm now.
Rents need to come down to entice more businesses to the area  :)
