Title: Hello from Lincoln
Post by: tagstank on January 14, 2018, 10:22:58 PM
A big hello to everyone
I’ll be honest...... I started fish keeping about a year ago as my daughter wanted a black moor as a pet. I can now safely say I’m addicted to the beauty of this hobby.
Currently I have a fluval 240L freshwater tropical set up, with mainly tetras a dwarf gourami and corys.
I’ve just bought some more tanks as the wife gave me the nod to create a fish room   ;D
Great site and love the calculator.
I look forward to advice and ideas when my fish room starts to evolve.
Cheers
Tagstank

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

There is an extra special hello from me as I also became seriously addicted in quite a short space of time.  ;D
High five for approval for a fish room. Awesome. I personally will be insisting on many, many pictures.

Welcome to the site!

I'll chip in with being interested in photos and plans as I have to live vicariously through the MTS of others...

Hi, I will upload some photos tomorrow of my 240 community.
The 240 is being replaced in my living room by a 360 corner unit, and will be re homed in my fish room.
The fish room will have 5 tanks in it. Lol, im not loaded with money but rather came across a bargain buy on eBay and couldn’t restrain myself. Because of my lack of restraint and a very understanding wife we can to an agreement that I would make use of the sheds which for lack of a better term, are “landfill storage”.
The sheds are identical and are not a bad size at 6x8ft, I will be linking them together long ways making 16ft long, putting some skylights in, power lines, heating and insulating. I’m toying with adding a water supply for the ease of maintenance.
With 240 ltr tank, 180 ltr, 100 ltr, 66 ltr and a 54ltr along one side wall and the back wall I should be able to have enough room for some bean bags in there for good comfy fish gazing, and maybe a mini bar lol.
As for what I will keep in the tanks I haven’t got that far, I’m open to ideas though  ;)
I’m hoping to start on emptying sheds this weekend if I can shake my man flu in time.
Most of my plans are either trapped in my head or barely legible scribbles. I’ll try and make something that people other than a 2 year old or me can read tomorrow  :P

5 tanks of varying sizes... hmmm... I would probably go for...

Shell dwellers
Dwarf puffer fish
Tropical planted community (maybe with discus)
African cichlids
Marine tank/river tank

I would think that a water supply would be a must even if just a garden hose arrangement.

I admire your lack of restraint.  ;D

I can't wait to see the progress of your project.
