Title: Hello Forum Newbie
Post by: [email protected] on January 02, 2024, 01:26:17 PM
Hello everyone, I'm Mims, and I joined to learn all I can about tropical fish keeping. I have had a heavily planted tank for about 5 months now. All are doing well. I have a Raphael catfish about 10 years old, started with 5 platy's, (now completely overrun), and have two plecs, spotted and albino. I did have a blue Betta siamese, but I haven't seen him for 3 days now. I'm sort of worried, but I'm hoping he will appear. Armored shrimp and yellow shrimp, together with ramshorn snails.  The tanks is 110cm and 250 liters.

Welcome to the forum, Mims !
Good to read of your tank inhabitants.
Re the missing betta, have you taken a good look under your tank and specifically at the corners of the skirting boards or where they border furniture, and behind the filter?  In my experience, fish have mysteriously ended up both behind the filter (despite a gap of <1mm) and on the floor despite a tight-fitting lid (one species was especially prone to this).  Be careful when removing the filter - best to pull it away from the glass to give the opportunity for him to float out from behind it rather than risk squashing him.  Hope he turns up, ideally still alive.
