I Kept a small fish tanks a 15 gallon and later a 20 gallon for few years then had a 3 year break.
Last year i got a Jewel 180. I am trying to get the plants to take off before fully stocking. I have 3 bristlenose plecos, 8 longfin blue danios and 2 dwarf chain loach. Soon to get to get 8 or so more chain loach and five more longfins danios. I have rocks, driftwood, caves and too much algae. For filtration i have the internal built in filter and a external fluval 206.

I look forward to getting know you and learning more about fish keeping

Welcome to the forum, Bovi.

Good to hear from you and about your fishkeeping, past and particularly your present and future plans. Looking forward to hearing more from you, and particularly to seeing some photos of the tank soon (hint, hint).

Thank you for the welcomes :D

I was sold the bristlenoses as tiny 4cm shoaling fish Parotocinclus haroldoi
Since the bristles grew on the male i have watched him to much and he doesn't that, I had too many big rocks in there and took one out and the small internal filter that he lived behind, he has had stress markings 2 days now, the females are both fine, he is eating when he thinks I am not looking.

I am trying to work out where to ask questions about my cycling tank 20 gallon, I am undecided if i want a quarantine tank, a shrimp tank or baby BN's later on, my main question would be about substrate to keep my options open.

Photo of the whole tank, if there is is anything you see i am doing badly please let me know, I am trying to get a low tech jungle.

Hi Bovi

Cycling questions go in here http://forums.thinkfish.co.uk/fishtank-filtration-and-cycling/

I'd never heard of Parotocinclus haroldoi before so I looked them up on planetcatfish. They do look similar to BNs, but they are only supposed to grow to 55mm/2.2 inches. That's quite a bit smaller than BNs!

Yes they look very similar to young BN's, mine are about 6cm now I am lucky they are bristlenoses :) I am very happy with the error i think the sid's and danios would be too much for tiny plecos and i love their scales like armour which i can just see clearly now, they do move great a lovely fish to watch and watching the bristles develop is an added extra.
