Hi everyone,

Just got into fishkeeping (My dad used to keep Tropical Fish so have some knowledge), now have 3 tanks;

one 19L at work which will become a Shrimp tank, and 2 40L tanks

one (on my desk at work) contains shoaling fish such as Neons, Glowlights, Rummy Noses and some Tiger Barbs to keep things interesting while they are still small

The other (at home) contains various Gourami (Pearl, Opaline, Dwarf, Paradise Fish and Honey)

My intention is to get bigger tanks for the Gourami and the Barbs, that way, I can get more Fish!

I would also like to get a 5ft Oscar Tank (Mainly because Oscars are awesome) for my home office, but haven't got permission from the boss at home yet.

Hi, welcome to the forum

Sounds like you are suffering from multi-tank syndrome already :)

Just a heads up - as those tiger barbs grow up and mature, they could start to pick on their tank mates. This is normal for tiger barbs. Keep an eye out for it.

Thanks Sue,

Multi tank syndrome is correct! Think I might need a bigger house soon...

Once I move My Gourami to a bigger tank, I will likely move the Tiger Barbs to that vacated tank at home and mix in some Green Tigers to help weed out any aggression.

It sounds as though you already know about the reputation of tiger barbs  :)

My husband keeps my MTS in check. I even had to close a tank recently as we altered the kitchen where the tank was so there was no room for it, and he refused to let me set it up in the lounge  :'(

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

I have let me MTS run riot, and even I admit that it has probably got slightly out of hand.  :-[

I also have a tiger barb tank, a mix of standard and green. Feeding time is fun.  :)

Welcome!

MTS sufferers are in good company here. Unfortunately, while I would love to have more tanks myself, there genuinely isn't the space - instead, I consider everyone else's tanks my "virtual tanks" (MTS-by-proxy as one of our members termed this).  :fishy1:

Welcome to the forums

So you have MTS already?  Good for you, you'll fit right in!

I think it's contagious actually as I've just bought a third tank even though my second hasn't finished cycling yet :yikes:

My excuse is that it was a bargain and small enough to store until I find somewhere to put it!

Great pics - wow. The gourami are absolutely stunning. :fishy1:

I think I recognise that filter - a Marina i110 (or at least some sort of Marina)? It looks the same as mine. :)

Yep, the Marina i110.

It came with the tank, one of the Marina Lux tanks.

I have 2, one at home and one at work.  I plan to move the gouramis to a Fluval Roma 125, when I get around to ordering it and getting it setup / cycled....

The tank on my desk at work, this one is too busy to pictures of individual fish types; the tank contains Neon, Glowlight and Rummy Nose Tetras, Tiger Barbs and a Golden Gourami.

I think you can also see the Pleco that is destined for my now less theoretical 5ft Oscar tank (my Mrs has now gave her blessings, and the designated alcove has been measured up).

It's always a day to celebrate when a theoretical tank is given approval and a designated space.  ;D  8)
