Title: Brand New to this forum and Brand New to Tropical fish keeping
Post by: Tarly on October 26, 2017, 08:12:57 PM
I just joined a couple hours ago but I have probably every question ever ask.  So I'm going to start by reading older posts and if I don't find what I need, I'll Be Back.  Right now it's Compatibility. Every time I ask the question of "Can I put my Bala Shark with my Rainbow Shark" I get the opposite answer.  They are all on the young side, the 2 Balas are smaller than the Rainbow but not by much.  I just took the Rainbow out of my 54 Gal tank and got him the Balas for tank mates.  The rainbow gets a bit aggressive at feeding time but mostly I see the Balas just swimming around happy (I think).  Anyway, I'll go read but interested in other's experiences.
Cheers,
Tarly

Hi Tarly

Ask any questions you need  :)

The best site for fish profiles is Seriously Fish (http://www.seriouslyfish.com/knowledge-base/) But there is currently a problem with their profiles - the text seems to have disappeared. However, Wayback Machine is a very useful tool, and here is SF's page on bala sharks -

One comment it does make is that balas are shoaling fish and you need at least 5 of them, preferably more.
