Title: Young plecs.
Post by: GJR on March 23, 2015, 09:57:58 PM
Hi, I have just aquired 4 young plecs each about half inch, at the moment they are in a breeding trap. Do you think they would be safe if I released them into a tank with neons and a Siamese fighter. To be removed when they grow a little.

If you mean will they be compatible, then yes. Plecs get along with just about anything. I'd worry more about the neons nipping the SFF. At half an inch they are too big for the SFF to attempt to eat and if he lives with neons he's used to fish that size. And they aren't fish that swim around a lot to attract his attention.

But don't leave them in the tank until they are too big for it. Young fish grow fast and will outgrow a tank quicker than you'd think.

Hi Sue,  thanks for the info....have launched them into the neon tank....all ok. I am not really a newcomer to the game as I kept trops and marines forty plus years ago but lost interest until I was given a tank a couple of months ago.......and off I go again!  Regards.

Now I know, I won't treat you like a newcomer! I always do until I know, it's safer that way.
