I have three thermometers (well five actually one's a dip in meat one lol ,i'm paranoid) one digital and two submerged glass they all thankfully seem to read the same 24c, but why when i have my hand in the tank does it sometimes feel warm, and another time cool whilst still at 24c

My guess would be the temperature of your hand Aquamaid, if hand is warm water will feel cooler and vice versa.

Human senses are very unreliable.
Go into an unheated room from a heated one in winter and it will feel cold.
Go into the same unheated room after coming in from the cold outside and it will feel warm.

I've always thought my tank water felt cold when doing water changes, I guess it's just because in comparison to hot taps and showers it is cold!
