Stop Co2 Automatically At Night

Hi all,

I'm new to fish keeping. But I'm building a system that will turn of the co2 supply during the night.
I was thinking to use a timer and a solenoid valve. But I'm not sure which solenoid valve I have to use. There are so many different kinds of solenoid valves. I think I have to use a plastic one, so there will be no corrosion. Do you think this valve will do the job?

I'm afraid it will leak some co2 because it's not closing well enough.

@matnose17 It doesn't look ideal and unless you have one already I would recommend an eBay search for something like a '4mm quick connect CO2 solenoid valve' and you will find several around the £5-10 mark. You will find adapting this one down to the correct pipe size will be a pain and probably end up costing more. I am not aware of the need for a plastic valve particularly not the body itself, the seats will almost certainly be a rubber and unless you have a wet gas I can't see corrosion being a problem. If you are using a pressurised CO2 system there will be valves with the inlet suited to fit on a bottle regulator and then a 4mm tube outlet. If it is a simple DIY yeast system then DONT fit a valve, it will creep up on you and explode one dark night when you least expect it, probably just after you decorated
