Title: Pearl Gourami & holiday approaching
Post by: Lynne W on May 20, 2018, 05:12:10 PM
Hiya, I posted a while back about my new male pearl gourami being a bit of a bully, but they seemed to have settle in so I've still got him and the two females.

I'm back to worrying, he's now taken to chasing them all the time, so much so that one only ever comes out when there is food and pretty much lives down behind a big chunk of wood, and the other will pop out every now any again but usually hides at the top behind some plants.

I'm most worried about the one that hides at the bottom, and I'm going on holiday for two week next weekend, I was thinking of getting another two females but would this be a good idea given if I get them tomorrow I'll only have the five days to see how things are going?

What do you think, or any other ideas?

Thanks

It's a tricky one.

I wouldn't get any new fish so close to going away just in case they bring a disease in. There is a chance you'd come back to a tank of sick fish.

Do you have a quarantine tank that you could move the male gourami to for the duration of the holiday? At least that would stop him harming one of the females while you aren't around to rescue her.

yeah that's what I thought about getting new fish so close to going on hols, unfortunately I never got round to getting a quarantine tank, might just have to leave them till I come back on keep my fingers crossed  :-\

thanks again.
