Nitrites are 0🎉🎉🎉🎉

Shipment of plants coming in tomorrow.

How long to wait before adding fish more slowly this time?

Hi @Aquaaggie

That's good news about nitrite. Your remaining fish will have been subject to some stress. So, let's make sure that they remain healthy before deciding when to add more fish. It would be wise to keep an eye on ammonia, nitrite and nitrate on a daily basis for obvious reasons.

Ok new update. Just checked parameters again and ammonia 0, nitrite 1-2, and nitrate 40. Did a 50% water change and added another bottle of safe start. I added a bunch of plants from Aquarium Co-Op and dosed easy green yesterday but haven’t changed anything else.

All sensible steps, don’t be afraid to do larger than 50% water changes though to keep nitrites in check...

Hi @Aquaaggie

I don't think it's wise to use Easy Green fertilizer. According to the Aquarium Co-Op web site, it contains a lot of nitrogen (N). Here's the analysis:

N 2.66% , P 0.46%, K 9.21%, Mg 0.7%, S 0.80%, B 0.015%, Cu 0.00%, Fe 0.13%, Mn 0.036%, Mo 0.00%, Zn 0.072%

In my opinion, it might be better to use something like Seachem Flourish.

As an aside, it would appear that Aquarium Co-Op wants to emphasize that Easy Green contains no copper (Cu) - obviously for the benefit of snails and shrimps.

Just to add that Seachem Flourish may contain copper but it is not enough to harm shrimps and snails. I have both and I use Flourish, though not at the dosage on the bottle as I have slow growing plants (apart from water sprite)

@jaypeecee

Nitrites back down to zero. They dropped faster than the lass time. And there have been no additional losses. Thanks for checking in.
