Title: frozen food
Post by: Lellynelly on March 08, 2015, 02:33:32 PM
Hi all.
I'm not new to fishkeeping but am new to using frozen food (I normally use flake) This probably sounds like a really daft question to which I probably know the answer but I just had to check.
When I give my fish the frozen bloodworm or Daphnia or whatever (Those that come in the tiny ice-cube style blocks) Do I just press it out of its plastic mould and drop the block in as it is,or do i wait for it to defrost then pour it in?

It is better to defrost them first in a small tub of tank water.

But depending on just how many fish you have, one cube may well be too much. The cubes hold far more than you'd think. For the first feeding I would chop one cube in half and just defrost one bit, even if you have to throw some of the first half-block away. That way you can judge how much you need to do next time,
