Maz, I hate to be the one that says this, but that looks like the small Edge, the 23 litre one? If it is, it is massively overstocked. All the fish except the fighter need a bigger tank.
The problem is that the 23 litre Edge has a footprint of 43 x 26cm. Bristlenoses need an 80cm long tank, rummy noses a 75cm long tank, and golden tetras and kuhlis 60cm (and the kuhlis need sand to bury themselves in).

Edit - I've just entered the details in the commumity creator, substituting smaller ember tetras for golden tetras. It says the tank is stocked at 317% of what the tank can hold even with smaller fish than one of the teras. That is, the tank is 3 times overstocked. It also says that all the fish except the fighter need a bigger tank.

What is the substrate? It looks like the crushed coral I have. Crushed coral increases pH, GH and KH.

Hi Maz - I have the same tank as your wife and got some great advice from the people here, so if you're looking for some advice on more suitable fish for your tank you could check on the thread I made for mine:

You'll need to upgrade to more than 50 litres for the bristlenoses. My 50 litre is only 60cm long and they need more than that.

Don't leave it too long to upgrade or you'll risk stunting the larger fish.
