Title: Fern ?
Post by: pollydoodle on November 16, 2019, 04:56:03 PM
This appeared out of nowhere and is growing on wood in my tank.  Is it algae or fern and is it safe to leave alone

It looks like one of the mosses.
See if any of these look like your photo

Thanks Sue, it looks like java moss - if I've got that right. Very pretty so it will stay

Java moss is the most common in shops. I bought some a few years ago and though it had all died but I keep finding bits attached to decor. When I accidentally siphon it up I just drop it back in the tank and it seems to attach itself wherever it lands.
