Title: Egg sack - what to do?
Post by: Cthulhu on March 01, 2015, 07:31:37 PM
Found a clear "sack" filled with white dots attached to stringy weed and rocks at bottom of the tank, have managed to isolate it as rummy nosed tetra had been mouthing it, I say mouthing as it could be eating or manipulating it to another place, it now sits in fry net with rocks and weed it was attached to. Fish eggs or snail? Fertilised or not? Any clues??

If it like a clear jelly filled with eggs, they are snail eggs. I can't think of any fish that lay their eggs in a jelly, but a lot of snails do.

If it was me, I'd get rid of the sac. If you've found one, there will be more you haven't found!

Or keep it till the eggs hatch just be sure they are snail eggs.
