Easy plants please

It's me again !
Trying to learn about which plants are easy and why ? I'm assuming the types of plants you tie onto wood or rocks need little nutrients other than that that is in the actual water ?
My knowledge of these are anubias , Java fern , and various moss .
I like the red leaved and variegated leaf plants , I currently have ludwegia in red, one which is doing well despite me moving it several times !
Am I hop g to much they most plants will do well in just plain old substrate with out the soil underneath ?
Please any suggestions for easy plants much appreciated .
Ally

Take a little look at this thread for some ideas http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/forums/general-fishkeeping-advice/possible-changes-to-the-tank-thoughts-welcome/msg27628/#msg27628 - I'm a complete and utter plant novice (no gardening experience either) so these easy plant ideas might give you some inspiration.

I'll have a bit more time later on tonight or tomorrow and can update you a bit further on my experiences so far - so far, so good, though. :)

Cryptocorynes are tough little things and will slowly spread. They're root feeders so will need root tabs every six months or so.

Vallis also does quite well in plain gravel substrate, especially with the size of grain you've chosen. Root tabs again help them along.

Hygrophila Polysperma has been a very easy plant for me to grow, and boy does it grow! With having a 70cm high tank the middle and top look bare but the height that it can achieve is amazing, it's still going now!

I have a soil and gravel substrate and I used root tabs I got off ebay for a few pounds.

I Also wondered if there are any plants that flower ?

Yup thats the bunny  :)

Biologically underwater flowers aren't viable, I suspect anubias either naturally occur in highly humid environments, or are partially submerged at certain times of the year and flower when they aint. A lot of plants bought from shops turn out to be terrestrial plants that can survive for a period underwater and I've learned a lot are grown with submerged roots but leaves in the open air to promote lush growth.

There are plants which do flower but it's usually above the water line (I'm quite prepared to be corrected on this but it's based on 35 years horticultural experience and 3 years of amateur aquascaping)

Plants won't flower underwater... unless you have these where you live;
