;D My bronze catfish finally bread after a while. been keeping them for at least 5 years but hat this pair for 1-2 years now. They laid them on the side of the glass and my cardinals ate them :-\ i have a floating fry tank but I don't know how to move the eggs without smashing them. Any ideas to help the catfish lay on a portable piece of glass ect....

Thanks

Apache, I merged your two threads into one and put it in the New Fishkeepers section. It is better to have all the replies in one thread.

You can very gently scrape the eggs off glass using a razor blade. But if the floating fry trap is one of those rigid plastic ones with slits for the water to flow through, you'll find that the tiny, newly hatched fry will get out through the slits. The best way to rear fry is in a nursery tank, or failing that a fry net - though I have had eggs and new fry get sucked through the mesh by the adult fish in the tank.

There are quite a selection on Ebay (eg this one) and probably Amazon as well if you have accounts with either of those.

You can encourage cories to spawn by refilling with cooler water when doing a water change and feeding live or frozen live food. If you can time it when the pressure is dropping that's even better. The cooler water simulates snow melt running downstream in spring.

OK I will set about seeing what I can do about the net, but how do I encourage them to spawn in the net if possible

They won't spawn in the net. You'll have to move the eggs there once they've been laid. Check all the decor for eggs as well as the tank walls as it is easier to move the decor complete with eggs.
