I've bought some bogwood for my new tank but it floats, is there a trick to keeping it at the bottom?

Dwarf Rainbowfish (5) - Neon Tetra (7) - Dwarf Gourami (4) - Platy (5) - Neon Tetra (3) - Glowlight Tetra (1) - Panda Cory (4) - Otocinclus (4) - Salt and Pepper Catfish (4) -
Note: The user may not necessarily own these fish, these are tanks that they may be building or researching for stocking purposes

Some wood does float until it has absorbed a lot of water. Is the wood in your tank yet or are you soaking it first? As a temporary measure, you might have to tie it to a rock. Once it is sodden it should stay at the bottom without a weight.

Thanks for your response.  I am soaking it first, it has been soaking for approximately 21 hours so far but I am wanting to get it into the tank before adding the first fish at the weekend.

If I need to tie it to a rock what is it best to use to tie it so as not to harm the fish?

I use nylon sewing thread to attach things. Other people use fishing line or even elastic bands - the bands will persih over time and break but by then your wood should be so water logged it'll stay down by itself.

It depends on the species of plec. Some of them need it in their diet, others don't. The best way to find out is google planet catfish, then look up whichever species you are interested in.
