Title: black beard algae

hi, i believe i have a bit of black beard algae, it is quite small and looks like i guess a very small fiber optic light thing you could buy a while ago ( not the best description)
any help in what to do or if anything. thanks it is only a small amount at the moment and might not even be bba

I get what looks like black beard algae on my java fern - but it's never spread to anything else or worsened. I just glide my fingers softly over each leaf at the weekly water change to remove as much of it as possible. I could use a toothbrush but find fingers easier for this particular type of algae and plant, to avoid damaging the leaves. I could do this more often but don't find it particularly unsightly.

hi, it helps thanks, hopefully it won't spread too much, i have taken the 2 plants out for a while and will give them a clean later, cheers
