Hi All,

Anyone know how you tell (apart from the presence of fry!) when your fishies have given birth?  My two girls still look just as fat as before...I don't expect them to get their figures back straight away, but I did expect a little less roundness :D

Also, once they start birthing, do they just keep going until all the fry are out or can it happen over a day or so?  I realise that is probably a dumb question, I only ask because some of my fry are teeny and some are much bigger and look like little mini fish already.  I suppose some depends on how much food they are managing to get, it's inevitable that some might be a bit bolder than others....

Any advice appreciated,

Resa

Usually, they give birth over a couple of hours then nothing for another month. But I have heard about people finding a few fry one day, then a few more the next.
I don't suppose they've both had fry, accounting for the different sizes?

My female endler-guppies only looks a bit slimmer afterwards. I sometimes have problems working out which one was the mother. It's a long time since I had platies (at least 10 years ago) and I've forgotten exactly what they are like.
