Hi,
I have this morning spotted 1 baby fish!!! Only the one, and I have no idea what it is yet...it is about 10mm  or so in length and has some colour.
If there are any more I do not know and how long it lasts is another question, but it is keeping a low profile at the moment.

I've forgotten, I have a rotten cold and my brain isn't working - what livebearers do you have? I know you have mollies (you mentioned them begging for food  ;D ) but do you have any others? And do you have any newly-thin females?

It's always exciting when your fish first have babies, our instincts are to try and save every one of them. It is quite likely there were more born, but either they are hiding (they're very good at that) or they've been eaten. I wouldn't worry about saving them. There will be more in a few weeks, and once they grow you'll have to find homes for any fry you save. A few will probably make it to adulthood.

Hi Sue,
I also have platys...I have seen it again, or it could be a different one. The wife seems to think it looks like our orange mollies! But none of my female livebearers seem thinner at all. :P

It's always possible the mother has only just started giving birth and still looks just as big. Have a look for a thin female in a few hours and see. Some females never do look particularly thin though.
