Hi Loubaa, Thanks for that. Absolutely loving your pun / typo btw.

Thanks Sue, yes fish are a long way off! But kind of the point, so I'll be looking and researching. Also I'm quite interested in all the water chemistry having done chemistry a level and an environmental biology degree. Any books anyone could recommend? (Books!? Yes I did my degree back when we used books and haven't quite lost the habit)

Hi Colin...Sorry to hijack your thread Loubaa! But I second your question re the sponge filter, is it cutting it short? Or somehow cutting through the thickness? Oops I think I have my answer in your latest reply, cutting it short, right?
And do you mean you added more of the noodle thingies? Are they ceramic media, or is that a different type of tank!?
Thanks guys.

Ah yes, I remember those days as well. And the journals were all bound into books too. My son tells me that the uni he's at has got rid of all their chemistry journals, they're all digital now. And he is about to submit his PhD thesis electronically too  ;D

Lol Puffin...That was a total (Freudian) typo... it's just the I and the U are next to each other on the keyboard... it's not that I'm suddenly completely obsessed by fish or anything... :-[

That's right. I cut the black spong to about 2", put a piece of white fine filter-floss below it, and fill the space where the black sponge used to be with 'noodles'. I gave a link to the ones I use in another post.... but here it is again.

A Selection of Fish in my Fish Community Creator Tanks

Note: The user may not necessarily own these fish, these are tanks that they may be building or researching for stocking purposes
