I had rather a lot of hornwort in the 50 litre tank I've just closed down; I've moved some to my other tanks, given one batch away and still have lots left.
The tank had cherry shrimp in so the hornwort is shrimp safe. However the tank also had a few pest snails, so I cannot guarantee the hornwort to be snail free.

I'd be interested in trying some out @Sue , I'm also happy to share out my hygrophila polysperma as well so can trade you? I will do as you have done and create a separate thread... :cheers:

Many thanks for the Hornwort @Sue , implanted it two days ago during a major pruning session. I will go back and tweak the arrangement slightly as some of the Hornwort in one area is preferring to lie down rather than stand up straight...
I dont know if you noticed but one of the plastic plants I had in the tank was imitation Hornwort so it's nice to finally have the real thing!
I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops. I have some Seachem Flourish coming in the mail today so I'm hoping for even better plant performance in the future.

Glad to hear it arrived safely. Seachem Flourish is what I use, and the hornwort seemed happy with that.

Many thanks for my delivery Sue, It looks great and far superior to the fake equivalent I had before. I originally planted it in the substrate but two pieces have preferred to jump up and float around the tank... I'm going to have another "fish tank gardening" session today and use lead weights and let it sit on the bottom.
Unless you reckon I would be best trying to attach it to my decor/bogwood somehow?

I never bothered trying to plant it. In the shrimp tank I had a piece of wood that had a lot of branches so I would it round those branches and let the stems grow. Every so often I'd take it out, cut off any old bits and rewind the good bits. With pieces less than 6 inches (15cm for those who prefer metric) I let them float on the surface till they grew long enough for the wood.

Thank you very much the Hornwort arrived safely and in great condition, and what a fantastic box you had tailor made for it !!
That it was made entirely from commonly available materials - a HUGE wine box is an entirely other matter, now I must remember not to type that last bit....

Now that you mention the wine box.....
We searched the house from top to bottom trying to find something a couple of week ago. In the process we found two TV boxes in the loft, one for each son. They no longer have the TVs in question so the boxes had to go. Packed inside one were several other boxes, wine boxes, labelled things like DVDs, bathroom bits and so on from when our younger son moved in 2010. I rescued a couple from the recycling box to make something that would go as a Large Letter rather than a parcel.
I never drank the wine :P
I drink pinotage and shiraz ;D

Glad to hear it is growing OK. I always worry about what the post will do to live plants, both crushing and freezing. Or in summer, boiling.

@fcmf Yes and one apparently on its side from the looks of the picture - no clue how that happened because the air was at the top when I attached it :)

If you click on the photo, it turns the right way up. I wonder if it is to do with the photo being portrait format and the software can only cope with landscape so it turns the photo sideways.

Sue's Hornwort has taken off at a rate of knots. It has done several laps of the small tank plus there is at least 2 metres in the 'unplanted' large tank. So in turn I can offer - if anybody would like some please feel free to ask :)

That's the thing about hornwort - it grows and grows. Every couple of months I have to take my hornwort-wound wood out of the tank and redo it. This means removing the bits that have lost leaves, breaking the long stems into at least 2 pieces then re-winding it all round the wood.
I started off with half a dozen 3 inch stems from Ebay.
