Wood shrimp or Amano shrimp?

Hi everyone,
I am looking to get some shrimp for my large 180lt tropical tank, I have had a problem with black beard algae, embarrassing as it is, it turns out I have been a feeder and the algae bloom was my fault :-\, that is now sorted and there is now minimal signs of algae.
I have been wondering about getting some shrimp, and feel that I am favoring the idea of Amano over the Wood shrimp, but any insight or information would be greatly appreciated!!
The tank is mature and the water levels are stable, there are 7 Angels, 5 x-ray tetras, 2 loaches and 8 plattys.

Clown Loach (1) - Neon Tetra (5) - Black Molly (1) - Zebra Loach (1) -
Note: The user may not necessarily own these fish, these are tanks that they may be building or researching for stocking purposes

You want Amano shrimp.

Wood shrimp filter particles from the water column and will be useless for tackling algae.

And feeding filter feeding shrimps can be tricky in a community tank. I too recommend amanos.

I know it's an older thread, but just curious about this filter feeding shrimp in community tank thing Sue...?  I fancy one myself, but won't do it if it's a bad plan...

The problem with filter feeding shrimps is that they need plenty of tiny food floating in the aquarium, and most fish keepers like clear water and go to all sorts of lengths to get rid of floating particles. If you don't mind a cloudy tank, you might be able to keep one http://www.planetinverts.com/Bamboo_Shrimp.html

Thanks for the link Sue...   :D

What throws a spanner in the works in my set up is the Corydoras Ornatus, which are in the habit of being in one of three states:  swimming around like they're possessed by the devil, grubbing around for food and sat there quite static...  Two of those three conditions mean that they don't half stir up detritus, good style...  Can't help thinking that a filter feeding shrimp, either a Bamboo or an Armoured, would actually benefit hugely from the manic behavioural patterns of the chunky Cory Cats...

I like filter feeding shrimp, I think they are unusual and fascinating. Another way of feeding them is to crush up appropriate food in a small amount of water, then use a plastic pipette to dispense some into the water flow in front of the shrimp. This will provide them with food without having to have a cloudy tank. Feed little and often to ensure clear water and happy shrimp.

Nearly picked up an Armoured Shrimp at my LFS today...  Something stopped me, can't really say what exactly, but I am thinking to hold out for a Bamboo shrimp and will have to wait for my LFS to get some more in...

In the meantime, does anybody know if Spirulina powder from the healthfood type shops is ok to feed to filter feeding shrimp...?  This sorta thing:  https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004PZEPY8

I have kept both Bamboo shrimp and Giant African Filter Shrimp in a community tank. I currently have 1 GAFS in my tank he/she is about 3” long and is very shy. He/she has a favourite “cave” at the bottom of the tank and protrudes a little to filter feed in the flow of water across the bottom of the tank. There has to be a lot of water movement in the tank to keep them happy. I don’t feed the filter shrimp specifically they seem to pick up enough from the water column. As this shrimp is quite big I only currently have one in my tank (270 litres).

One of the cutest things I've seen in a shop recently was a pyramid shaped stack of shrimp tubes, with each tube containing a bamboo shrimp, and all of them had their fans out feeding.  ;D

I have attached a couple of pictures of my GAF. He/she is rather shy so I only have a view of it filter feeding from its favourite spot.
I attempted to post this earlier but although I didn't get any errors nothing appeared. I may have inadvertently posted it elsewhere, apologies if this is the case.

Managed to get a picture of my GAF with a couple of Amano's and a Bronze Cory in the foreground.
You can just about see the bulk of S(he) in the shadows.
