Male Or Female

a) What is the opinion of the sex of this yellowish shrimp please.  It's bigger than the others and quite adventurous.  Also much yellower so the vendor must have had other coloured shrimp in her tank maybe?

b) Why has it got its tail bent like that. Is it for balance when he was tucking into the pellet. It was straight earlier

c) Is this reddish one male or female. If female is it berried?

If you are right they are both female then I don't think I have any males at all.

On the other hand, I've finally seen 9 of them tonight which is the largest total since they went in a week ago, but some are so tiny it's hard to tell - some of these littlies may well be male although so immature that I imagine it would take a while for them to become sexually active.

According to my other half, I do spend an inordinate amount of time staring into both the shrimp and fish tanks!! so I'm there long enough to count what I see, although it is a struggle sometimes because they match the substrate so well. 
I have to wait until I detect movement and can then follow them with my eye.

I used to do such a lot of reading but for some reason, I just don't get the time anymore

I think both are female but it is hard to tell if the red is berried.  If she ever lands on a plant so you can see underneath her then look for lots and lots of tiny balls around her swimmerettes ( back legs) these are eggs. She may well keep jiggling them about wiith her legs, which always amuses me! 

The best way to tell beween males and females is that males have a flatter abdomen and no body casing extending down over the swimmerettes.

The curling the tail thing is normal. They do it to clean before and after moulting.
